Where do you start? Which platform should you choose? Which technology is leading the pack? What happens in the future? These are all questions we’ve struggled with.
This is why we created Swidget, an embedded smart home device that isn’t locked into any one platform.
The Swidget platform was designed by a team of Engineers and Technicians with over 25 years of experience building research payloads for NASA, and both the Canadian and European Space Agencies.

D. Lowell MisenerCO-FOUNDER
Lowell is an Electrical Engineer with 22 years of experience creating automated systems for the Canadian Space Agency and NASA. Having now developed hardware for arguably the “smartest” home in existence (the International Space Station), Lowell wants to bring these skills down to earth. An experienced tinkerer of technology, Lowell loves playing around with the latest tech. Of particular interest over the past 2-3 years has been the evolution of smartphones and smart home technology. The creation and refinement of the Swidget platform with Chris over the past two years has been a perfect combination of Lowell’s experience and love for high tech.
In supporting a number of research missions to space, Chris has spent enough time away from his own home over the years to fully understand some of the key benefits that a smarter home provides. With a background of 16 years in Mechanical Engineering and a love for seeing how things work – developing new products for the emerging smart home market is a natural fit. Whether he’s forgotten to close the garage door on his way to the kids’ soccer games, or wanting to make sure the lights are on after dark when he’s away – smart home technology has given him peace of mind when he needed it. Now, he’s on a new mission – to smarten his home in a clutter-free way.
